Dr. Howell graduated with honors from Brigham Young University in 1982 and entered Medical School at North Texas State University in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the recipient of several awards in Medical School and graduated in 1986.
He served his Internship at Tulsa Regional Medical Center from 1986 to 1987 and then began his Residency Program which went from 1987 to 1991. During his Residency he trained at Harvard Medical School, and was also the recipient of the Felix Rutledge Fellowship at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, Texas. He served as the Chief of Residents in his final year of Residency and won several research awards during his training. It should be noted that Dr. Howell is Board Certified.
Following his training he moved to Antioch, CA and practiced in private practice for four years before moving to Grand Junction. Since establishing a practice in Grand Junction he has been awarded the prestigious “Top 100 Physicians” in the country twice. He has also been awarded a citation from Congress.
Dr. Howell has dedicated his practice to help improve the lives and health of women in the Grand Valley for the past 13 years and has privileges at both St. Mary’s Hospital and Community Hospital where he has served as Chief of OB/GYN, Chief of Surgery, and currently serves on the Hospital Board and as Chief of Staff.
Dr. Howell lived in Spain for a two year period and is fluent in both English and Spanish.
